I have to say, its performance for the price is very, very good. Found this Dell AC511, read the reviews and did the usual bit of research before purchasing. I decided to get a reasonably priced one minus speakers and use a soundbar instead. Had to get a replacement, but found that the ones with speakers were either way too big, or too expensive.
#Dell ac511 sound bar drivers Pc#
Recently my 15 year old PC monitor with inbuilt speakers died on me. However, I recommend Dell revise the product in future iterations to make use of HDMI audio so that it can be used with any source, such as games consoles. Overall I would recommend this product when used with a compatible Dell monitor as it's aesthetically pleasing and sound quality is good. Therefore, I binned by AC511 warranty off and modified the USB cable as pictured, making for a much neater and easier install. It can be connected to the USB hub in many Dell monitors, such as that in my U2515H and that is it's intended use but the USB cable is bizarrely long and features a chunky ferrite/iron core making it very difficult to conceal underneath the U2515Hs cable cover. So, for all intents and purposes treat it as a USB speaker. The speaker does have 3.5mm input and I have had it working via that but it's clunky, doesn't look great and you lose the volume control functionality on the speaker. The product would be better if it could make use of HDMI audio some how. It's essentially a USB speaker so must have a USB connection to the PC you wish to produce sound from. It's no Bose or SONOS sound bar but more the reasonable quality for general computer use, light gaming and YouTube watching. The AC511 is a good build-quality speaker with much better quality sound than any built-in LCD speakers and most bog-standard TV speakers.
